'The Big Bang Theory' Recruits Emmy Nominated Actress as Series Regular
-Posted by: Quivi
Guess who’s up for partying with a bang? CBS recently announced that an Emmy nominated actress will be joining the cast of The Big Bang Theory as a series regular, after appearing on the series’ first season as a guest star for a few episodes. Yes, Sara Gilbert, most popularly known for her stint on Roseanne, will be the newly recruited cast member of the second season of Big Bang Theory, which is scheduled to return to television screens beginning Monday, September 22, at 8:00pm.
The 33-year-old Sara Gilbert is best known for her nine-year portrayal of Darlene Conner on Roseanne, followed by her more recent appearance in the WB’s Twins. She also had a recurring role on CBS’ short-lived series, The Class. In 2007, she appeared as a guest on CBS’ The Big Bang Theory as Leslie Winkle, Leonard’s (Johnny Galecki) colleague and love interest. ... Read More ...

'Brilliant' Casting
-Posted by: Quivi
If Comic-Con International ever needs official television mascots, the cast and creators of “The Big Bang Theory” would be perfect. They've got the brains. They've got the video-game skills. Co-creator Bill Prady wears a Green Hornet ring and once spent $8,000 on a rare piece of “Star Trek” memorabilia.
And best of all, the team behind the CBS sitcom about four brainy pals and the babe who befriends them have the deep and abiding love of Comic-Con fans, who know a caped comrade when they see one.
“I thought there would be 30 people out there. I had no idea,” said co-star Kunal Nayyar, who – like his cast-mates – was stunned by the masses who flocked to a 2,000-seat room for the shows' panel session ... Read More ...

'Big Bang Theory' finds inspiration in...Pepe Le Pew?
-Posted by: Quivi
CBS' The Big Bang Theory got a huge boost from fans at Comic-Con today, as thousands of Sheldon and Leonard converts packed a ballroom to hear whether the actors are as smart as their small-screen counterparts (no) and whether the dense mathematical problems featured on the show are accurate (yes). "We have a consultant who is a professor of astrophysics at UCLA. He answers all the criticism," explained executive producer Chuck Lorre, who was joined on the panel by fellow EP Billy Prady and stars Johnny Galecki (Leonard, pictured left), Jim Parsons (Sheldon, pictured right), Kaley Cuoco (Penny, pictured center), Simon Helberg (Howard), and Kunal Nayyar (Rajnesh).
The producers then regaled the crowd with a little Big Bang trivia: the literary archetype for Helberg's Howard is Pepe Le Pew, and they actually shot two Big Bang pilots, because the first one from two and a half years ago "really sucked" (no, Lorre's not sure whether it'll show up as an extra someday on the Big Bang DVD). And despite conventional wisdom about Sheldon, Prady never meant Parsons' socially-awkward character to suffer from Asperger's syndrome. "We don't think his mom ever took him in for a diagnosis," says Prady.
The panel saved the best news for last, though: Sara Gilbert, who recurred as the brainy Leslie Winkle last season, will return for several more episodes beginning this fall. Source: popwatch.ew.com
